PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plain tile which has much reduced the possibilities of treading cracks due to loads by changing its external appearance and improving the strength of the tile proper. SOLUTION: The plain tile 1 is provided with a slit S at a position of left or right lower sides near the eaves. It is laid on a roof in such a way that a wider eaves-side lower portion 5a thereof formed by providing the slit is protruded toward the eaves while a narrower eaves-side portion 6a thereof is withdrawn toward the ridge.
