<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light intensity conversion element which is thin, has simple constitution and converts light intensity distribution and emits light, and an optical device using such a light intensity conversion element. <P>SOLUTION: The light intensity conversion element comprises a body 14 having: a first curved surface 16 extending in a lateral direction to a central axis line 12; a second curved surface 18 extending in the lateral direction to the central axis line; and a circumferential surface 20 extending between the first curved surface and the second curved surface. Incident light having Gaussian light intensity distribution incident from the first curved surface is diffused in a partial region in the body and is converged in other regions in the body by refraction when the light is incident on the body from the first curved surface. The incident light is emitted from the second curved surface with almost uniform light intensity distribution from the central part to the peripheral part different from the incidence light intensity distribution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
