摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that unintended migration of migrating particles to adjacent pixels occurs during not only selective erasure, but also selective writing. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display device is equipped with a couple of substrates, insulating liquid arranged in the gap between the substrates, a plurality of electrostatically charged migrating particles dispersed in the insulating liquid, and a couple of display electrodes which are arranged on one substrate and demarcate pixels and makes the electrostatically charged migrating particles by applying a voltage between a couple of display electrodes to make a display; and when the electrostatic charging polarity of the electrostatically charged migrating particles is plug (minus), a barrier electrode which limits the range of migration of the electrostatically charged particles to within one pixel is arranged at the border where two pixels are adjacent by being set to a potential higher (lower) than the potential of one of the display electrodes of the two pixels arranged across the border.
