PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner capable of forming data for biochemical analysis excellent in determination properties even when the data for biochemical analysis is formed by detecting the light emitted from a sample, by relatively moving exciting light and the sample forwardly and rearwardly in a main scanning direction using a motor and a crank mechanism. SOLUTION: The scanner is equipped with two exciting light sources 1 and 2 for emitting exciting lights, a sample stage 70 on which the sample is placed, a condensing optical system 5 for condensing exciting lights to the sample placed on the sample stage and condensing the light emitted from the sample, a motor 40 and crank mechanisms 41, 43 and 44 for converting the rotary motion of the output shaft of the motor to linear motion and further equipped with a main scanning mechanism for relatively moving the condensing optical system and the sample stage forwardly and rearwardly in the main scanning direction, photodetectors 7 and 8 for photoelectrically detecting the light emitted from the sample, a rotary encoder 82 for detecting the angle of rotation of the output shaft of the motor, and a light source control means 81 for controlling the intensities of the exciting lights emitted from the exciting light sources according to the angle of rotation of the output shaft of the motor detected by the rotary encoder.
