PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which separately adjusts temperature and humidity over a whole range of cooling loads and operates with small power consumption. SOLUTION: The air conditioner comprises a compressor 1, an outdoor heat exchanger 2, an outdoor fan 7, an outdoor electric operated expansion valve 3, an indoor heat exchanger divided into at least two parts 4, 6, and an indoor electric operated expansion valve 5 provided between the divided indoor heat exchanger parts 4, 6. A target air conditioning operation for approaching to a target air conditioning load is possible.
