PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raschel knitted fabric having excellent stretchability. SOLUTION: This raschel knitted fabric is composed of chain stitch yarns 1a, 1b, and inserting yarns 2a, 2b. The chain stitch yarns 1a, 1b, are composed of nonelastic yarns. The adjacent chain stitch yarns 1a and 1b are alternately moved to adjacent wales in prescribed sites and knitted, and the knitted sites are knotted parts 3. The inserting yarns 2a and 2b are directly knitted in the initial courses without moving to the adjacent courses. Thereby, the inserting yarn 2a is partially knitted in the chain stitch yarn 1b and the inserting yarn 2b is partially knitted in the chain stitch yarn 1a. Covered stretchable yarns prepared by covering elastic yarns with nonelastic yarns are used as the inserting yarns 2a, 2b. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
