PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzimidazolone compound synthesizable simply and realizing stable and good dispersibility and fluidity of a pigment without aggregating the pigment and suitable as a pigment dispersing agent without deteriorating with time, the pigment dispersing agent, a pigment dispersion composition and a coloring photosensitive composition comprising the compound. SOLUTION: This benzimidazolone compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, X denotes an arylene; A denotes a single bond, O, CONH, CO<SB>2</SB>, CO, SO<SB>2</SB>NH, SO<SB>3</SB>or SO<SB>2</SB>; p denotes an integer of 0-4; q and r denote each an integer of 0-5; R<SP>1</SP>denotes an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, hydroxy group, nitro group, chloro group, bromo group, an ester group or an amide group; R<SP>2</SP>denotes CO<SB>2</SB>H or its alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt thereof; and R<SP>3</SP>denotes SO<SB>3</SB>H or its alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt thereof, with the proviso that at least either one of q and r denotes an integer of≥1).
