PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing a carbonaceous material able to catch efficiently the carbonaceous material generated at an arc discharging part to obtain efficiently the carbonaceous material and to provide a carbonaceous material catcher to realize these things. SOLUTION: The carbonaceous material catcher 23a is composed of a supporting part 31 and a catching part 33 equipped with a flowing through part 34 elongated from the supporting part 31 to the vertical direction to the shaft direction of the supporting part 31 and to flow through a gas to the shaft direction. The catcher is easy to entrap and catch the carbonaceous material in the gas comparing with a conventional catcher. The carbonaceous material catcher 23a is able to catch simply, easily and efficiently a large amount of the carbonaceous materials comparing with the conventional catcher. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
