PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen-containing copolymer by a suspension polymerization method wherein no salts exist in a polymerization system, the polymer yield is high, the produced copolymer contains high percentages of a nitrogen- containing monomer and the particle diameter distribution in the copolymer is narrow. SOLUTION: In the process of manufacturing the nitrogen-containing copolymer from the water-soluble nitrogen-containing monomer and an ethylenic unsaturated monomer in suspension polymerization, the polymerization proceeds under the condition that X≥0.5 mmol wherein X is the amount decomposed of a polymerization initiator per hour to 100 g of the monomers.
