PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide rail which is light weighted, and capable of realizing a fine positioning accuracy, as well as realizing a high sliding ability and abrasive resistance to a companion member. SOLUTION: The guide rail 5 comes in contact with a ball bearing in a groove part 39 at the side surface. Right and left contact surfaces 39a where the ball bearing 37 comes in contact with the groove part 39 of the guide rail 5 has the surface roughness Ra in the longitudinal direction, which is 0.002 μm, for example not less than 0.01 μm.
