<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a fluoroalkyl iodide from a fluoroalkene and a method for efficiently manufacturing a fluorinated ester from the fluoroalkyl iodide. <P>SOLUTION: The fluoroalkyl iodide expressed by the formula (II): Rf-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>I (II) (in the formula, Rf indicates a 1-20C perfluoroalkyl group or polyfluoro alkyl group) is manufactured by reacting the fluoroalkene with hydrogen iodide gas in the presence of a catalyst.
