PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a free radical compound which is stable in the presence of oxygen at a normal temperature and compounded with rubber to provide a rubber composition causing a great energy loss the rubber deforms. SOLUTION: This free radical compound contains (i) a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring and (ii) a bond to be combined with hydrogen bond of a urethane bond, thiourethane bond, urea bond, thiourea bond, amide bond, thioamide bond, ester bond, thioester bond and/or ether bond and is stably present in the presence of oxygen at a normal temperature.
