The invention relates to means for colouring keratin fibres, in particular human hair, comprising at least one p-phenylenediamino derivative of formula (I) in a cosmetically-acceptable vehicle, where R<1> = a linear or branched, chiral or achiral C4 - C14 hydroxyalkyl group. The invention further relates to the use of said derivatives for the colouring of keratin fibres and a corresponding method.
