<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an engine brake not intended by a driver from being applied by an overshoot upon manual downshift in an automatic transmission driving a range selector valve by an actuator. <P>SOLUTION: Upon manual downshift (D range → 2 range) by a shift lever operation by a driver (S2), an actual range detected by an impedance switch is compared with an indicated range detected by a range selector switch (S4). When the actual range is different from the indicated range and the actual range is a lower speed side range (actual range = 1 range), a gear shift stage (2 shift) based on the indicated range (2 range) is set as a low speed side limit gear shift stage (S6), and a gear shift to a low speed stage (1 stage) exceeding the limit is prohibited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
