<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a bright display and to provide a liquid crystal display device with excellent visibility by increasing reflected light quantity in a direction of user's visual line in a reflective or transflective liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal layer 4 held between upper and lower substrates 3, 2 placed opposite to each other, an upper polarizing layer 13 and a lower reflection polarizing layer 6 respectively disposed on the upper and lower sides of the liquid crystal 4 wherein the lower reflection polarizing layer 6 is formed by laminating prism shaped dielectric interference films consisting of a plurality of pairs of continuously formed slope parts with wedge shaped cross sections and angles which the slope parts of the edge part side in a direction of distinct vision out of the two paired slope parts form with the lower substrate 2 vary in the direction of distinct vision. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
