PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knocking detecting device for an internal combustion engine, allowing quick setting of an optimum ignition timing by making a spark- advance angle reach a target spark-advance angle value faster as a vehicle speed is higher and making the spark-advance angle reach the target spark- advance angle value slower as the vehicle speed is lower, improving the follow-up of knocking control by making the spark-advance angle reach the target spark-advance angle value faster as an engine speed is higher, and achieving improved drivability by performing knocking control following explosion intervals. SOLUTION: When one of the conditions that the vehicle speed detected by vehicle speed detecting means is greater than a set value and the engine speed detected by engine speed detecting means is greater than a set value is satisfied, control means controls the spark-advance angle to reach the target spark-advance angle value faster than the case that the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detecting means is smaller than the set value or the engine speed detected by the engine speed detecting means is smaller than the set value.
