PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a shield machine capable of performing replacement work for a roller cutter even in a place having much spring water under the sea, and a method for replacing its roller cutter. SOLUTION: This structure of the shield machine is formed by an outer peripheral cutter 11 forming an annular advance surface of the shield machine, and a center cutter 11 disposed inside the outer peripheral cutter. The outer peripheral cutter 11 and the center cutter 21 are capable of rotating and moving in the advancing direction in a body or in a separate body. Each cutter head is provided with a removable type roller cutter projected in the advancing direction, a jack capable of moving the roller cutters 31, 32 is provided on the back of each cutter head, and further a work lock 6 storing roller cutters 31, 32 to perform replacement work is disposed at the back of the center cutter 21.
