PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition for use in lubricating mechanical components having to-be-lubricated steel parts subject to rolling and roll sliding motion, capable of preventing the oil film from coming off due to metal fatigue caused by oil film thinning without relying on thickening the oil film, thus enabling oil film persistence to be extended. SOLUTION: This grease composition comprises a base oil, a thickening agent and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of oxide(s) of bivalent typical metal(s) having lower Moh's hardness than steel, and a compound of the bivalent metal which rapidly turns to the corresponding oxide(s) having lower Moh's hardness than steel under lubricating conditions.
