The invention relates to a coupling for pipes, particularly pipes made of metallic material, operated by internal pressure. The pipes are coated with an inliner (2) made of polymeric material, the free end (21) of which projects from the pipe at a location which is approximately proximal to the coupling and is arranged on a first coupling part (3), an annular sleeve (5), and/or a joining element (4). The joining element (4) locks in an approximately flush manner with the free end (21) of the inliner (2) and is axially longer than the annular sleeve (5). An annular receiving area (31, 71) pointing to the free end (21) of the inliner (2) is positioned at least on one coupling part. The invention also relates to the assembly of such a coupling.
