<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that restricts toner consumed due to a pattern image used for the correction of registration and reduces soil on a sensor with toner. <P>SOLUTION: Before the correction of registration, as an initial operation of detecting a quantity of light reflected from a second image carrier, the second image carrier is rotated one time and a quantity of light reflected from the second image carrier is read by a pattern detecting means.
