<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine starter generator capable of surely preventing a piston of an engine from exceeding a top dead center when a starter generator is rotated in a reverse direction at once in start of the engine. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with a PWM control means controlling an inverter circuit 3, when the inverter circuit 3 is controlled so as to reversely rotate a crankshaft in starting the internal combustion engine, to make a wave shape of a drive current supplied to armature coils Lu-Lw of a starter generator 1 from a battery through the inverter circuit 3 a PWM wave form that intermits at a set duty ratio.
