PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for classifying automatically a record of an earthquake event or slight earthquake event detected by an earthquake receiver coupled to an underground layer under development, according to various selection references. SOLUTION: In this method, an earthquake signal exceeding a predetermined threshold value Sd in a prescribed selection function E, A is detected, according to at least one reference, within a detection interval Pld on an at least one recorded earthquake trace, a global record interval Ple overlapped with either side in the detection interval Pld is selected, and a signal of the record interval Ple is stored together with a classification label, in response to whether the detected signal within the interval is one corresponding really to the earthquake event or slight earthquake event or not, or whether the signal is one related to an artificial cause to some extent or not.
