STRUCTURE OF SHIELD MACHINE AND METHOD OF REPLACING ROLLER CUTTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a shield machine capable of performing the replacement operation for a roller cutter even under sea level where there is much spring water and a replacement method for the roller cutter. SOLUTION: This structure of the shield machine comprises a plurality of large circular cutter heads 1 disposed on a same plane in proximity to front rows and a plurality of small circular cutter heads 2 disposed on the rear rows of the large circular cutter heads 1 at specified intervals so as to fill clearances between the large circular cutter heads 1. The large circular cutter heads 1 can be moved singly in an excavating direction. A plurality of detachable roller cutters 3 projected in the excavating direction and disposed in circumferential direction are fitted to the large circular cutter heads 1, and radially extendable jacks 4 for extraction are fitted to the rear of the large circular cutter heads. A working lock 5 as a space for the replacement operation for the roller cutters 3 is disposed at rear rows between the small circular cutter heads 2.
