PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner having high processing capability and capable of efficiently utilizing the light of a light source. SOLUTION: The scanner 10 includes an LED unit 26 to emit the light toward a negative film 12. A lens 28 for irradiation is arranged between the LED unit 26 and the negative film 12. For example, a convex lens is used for the lens 28 for irradiation. The diffusion light emitted from the LED unit 26 is condensed by the lens 28 for irradiation and the negative film 12 is irradiated with this light. The light transmitting the negative film 12 is condensed by the lens 32 for projection and is projected to a CCD sensor 30. The CCD sensor 30 converts the received light to an electric signal, thereby, image data can be obtained. The negative film subjected to rapid development processing without undergoing at least either of a bleaching process and a fixing process after undergoing, for example, a color developing process is used as the negative film 12.
