PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing conditions of feedstock composition and conditions of binder addition according to the granulation characteristics of a sintered ore feedstock in order to improve its granulability. SOLUTION: According to the content of difficultly granulable stock contained in a blending powder, the rate of a binder added to the blending powder and the amount of humidifying water are determined. In determining these factors, a suitable granulation model is used. The model contains all processes such as a process whereby particles of a fine powder unite together to grow into pseudoparticles, a process whereby the pseudoparticles are disintegrated during the course in which the stock are formed into pseudoparticles, and a process whereby the disintegrated particle fragments are formed again into pseudoparticles. Parameters including a granulation contribution rateπ, the probability of granulation of the stock into particles at every grain size, and the probability of disintegration of each pseudoparticle are evaluated in advance according to a predetermined method, and the particle size of the pseudoparticles is predicted by the granulation model. The probability at which the stock is granulated or the pseudoparticle is disintegrated is determine by factors such as the surface physicochemical properties of stock particles expressed in relation to their respective grain sizes and the type of the ore to be treated.
