PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder and an ink jet recording method in which ink can be ejected continuously with high velocity while sustaining ejection stability of ink. SOLUTION: A plurality of chambers 28a filled with ink and communicating with nozzle openings 27 are juxtaposed in a piezoelectric ceramic plate 26 and electrodes 30 are provided on the opposite sidewalls of each chamber 28a in order to eject ink by generating a driving electric field on the sidewall 29 through the electrodes 30. In such an ink jet recorder, ejection stability of ink is enhanced by delivering, together with a driving signal for generating a driving field, a nonejection driving signal generating a nonejection driving electric field ejecting no ink from a waiting chamber 28e in the same direction as the driving electric field at least on one side wall 29d, 29e of at least one waiting chamber 28e capable of ejecting ink other than a specified chamber 28b for ejecting ink.
