As shown in FIG. 1, in an information supply system according to the present invention, a user available area in a built-in recording medium (20) of a recording/reproduction device (10) is used as a contents storage area, so that contents (23a) which can be used by a user are previously recorded in the built-in recording medium (20) when the recording/reproduction device (10) is shipped. Therefore, in the information supply system which enables the user to use the contents stored in the recording medium, from/on which the contents can be read and rewritten via the recording/reproduction device, the activity ratio of the recording medium at shipment is increased and, thus, an opportunity of contents distribution can be increased.
