<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a lead pipe, in which a wire 18 and a heating unit 20 are passed through an underground lead pipe 10, this lead pipe is heated to the temperature below the melting point to make the inside in a negative pressure state and reduce the diameter by buckling of the wall of the lead pipe 10, one end of the wire 18 is connected to the lead pipe 10 via a first cover 22 and the other end is connected to a new pipe 14 via a cover with a chuck, the lead pipe 10 can be pulled out from under the ground by pulling the end of wire 18 with a winch 38, and the lead pipe 10 is scrapped to take out the heating unit 20 and the like and reuse them for another pulling out of buried lead pipe, for the diameter of the underground lead pipe 10 is reduced by buckling and the like. <P>SOLUTION: Because the diameter of the underground pipe is reduced, the pipe can securely be pulled out from under the ground without being torn off halfway even in the case of a water passing pipe with low tensile strength.
