<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage device capable of smoothly carrying in and out a carriage even in the case when a rack main body is adjacent to a wall, a column, etc., and constructing a large number of the rack main bodies even in a limited space. <P>SOLUTION: The carriage device 20 is arranged on the side of a cargo shelf ridge 2 of the rack main body 9 adjacent to the wall, the column, etc. This carriage device 20 is constituted of a rail device 21 to be laid on a floor surface 13, a parent carriage 31 free to travel on this rail device 21 and a child carriage 51 devised free to ride on and off this parent carriage 31. A guide rail 42 for the child carriage 51 to smoothly ride in is provided on the parent carriage 31. Upper surfaces of a rail body and a bottom plate of the parent carriage 31 are made at the same level as the floor surface 13.
