PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paving machine which can avoid a starting bump in an area outside a screed or at least minimize the starting bump to an allowable extent that does not require post processing. SOLUTION: The paving machine for paving the ground such as a road is comprised of a chassis 1, and a floating screed 5 towed by the chassis. The screed 5 is connected to the machine via a plurality of towing arms 6, and its operating angle with respect to the ground is adjustable by a plurality of activating cylinders 12. Further, the screed is formed of a main screed 7 and a plurality of extendable screeds 8 and/or a plurality of mounting screed portions 9, and at least one hydraulic bearing cylinder 21 is arranged at a location between a rear zone as viewed in a chassis 1 paving direction, and the extendable screeds 8 and/or mounting screed portions 9 located on both sides of the machine. The bearing cylinder 21 is hydraulically pressurized in an adjustable manner when the paving machine is started. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
