<p>A management device for managing a network comprises a plurality of relay units adapted to relay communication between two transmission media and having a cutting function of cutting, when communication one transmission medium is cut, communication with the other transmission medium. Part or all of the relay units have a cut canceling function of canceling the operation of the cutting function in response to a request from the management device. The management device is characterized in that when a communication path having one or more relay devices connected in series is cut, the operations of the cut canceling functions are sequentially controlled to measure the probability of a failure of a relay unit or a transmission medium by using the communication state acquired from the relay units on the communication path and to report the result.</p> |
