Method for constructing solid wood beam from a stack of solid wooden boards set with vertical edge and joined by wooden dowels

A method for constructing a load bearing solid wood beam has solid wood planks stacked with vertical edge and joined by wooden dowels threaded through the whole stack. The ends of the beam have flanged faces onto which are fitted the flanked faces of end beams also secured by dowels. Metal lifting eyelets are fitted into slots cut into the top of the beam and secured by pins fitted through side bores. The lifting eyes are easily removed when the beam has been lifted into place.
