Speech expansion means for a data processing unit, through which speech elements (5, 6, 7), linked to a driver program (8), are assigned to a language. The driver program is provided to present the data on a display unit (2) and via speech elements (5-7). Thus output can be presented in German on the display and output in spoken form in English and French through the speech elements (6, 7). A user interface (10) allows a user to select output languages.
