The invention concerns an automaton (42) for reading a HTML code portion in a HTML page (14) from a pre-recorded access path (40) to said HTML code portion in said HTML page (14). The automaton comprises a module (48) representing the HTML code of said HTML page (14) in the form of a tree-like structure wherein each HTML instruction is associated with a node so that each HTML code portion of said HTML page (14) is linked to a single parent node, and each of said nodes being associated with a unique access path to said node based on the position of said node in the tree-like structure. Said automaton (42) further comprises a module (50) for scanning the code associated with the tree-like structure capable of reading the HTML code portion linked to the node corresponding to the pre-recorded access path.
