<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal device installed in a space between the outer peripheral surface of a shaft member through a housing and the inner peripheral surface of the housing and capable of surely preventing seal liquid in a housing from flowing out to the outside through the space for a long period. <P>SOLUTION: This seal device 1 fixed to the housing 2 to seal the annular clearance thereof from a rotating shaft 3 comprises a first seal member 10 having a main lip 11 and a second seal member 20 disposed in a space S1 on the seal liquid side of the seal member 10. A plurality of screw projections 31 and 32 formed on the sliding surface 11c of the main lip 11 against the rotating shaft 3 are arranged parallel with each other at predetermined intervals. The screw projections 31 are tilted at a specified angle relative to the axis of the rotating shaft 3 in opposite directions to the screw projections 32 tilted at a prescribed angle relative to the axis of the rotating shaft 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
