<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely track a subject in a front side to detect a lateral position thereof, even when a peak indicating the lateral position of the subject detected by a plurality of beams is irregularly fluctuated laterally, in a radar system. <P>SOLUTION: In this radar system for detecting the subject in the front side of a vehicle based on a beat signal provided by receiving a frequency-modulated signal returned reflected by the subject in the front side of the vehicle to be mixed with a transmission signal, after transmission, and for determining variations in the lateral-directional subject data in the past and the this time based on a reference value to judge continuity in the subject data, the lateral- directional variation between the subject data detected in the past and the subject data detected in this time is detected by a lateral-directional variation detecting means for the subject, and a reference value changing means changes the reference value for the lateral-directional variation of the subject, when the same degree of the lateral-directional variation exceeding the reference value is generated in all of the subject data in the past and the present. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
