<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device in which a support mechanism of a ratchet pressing member can be more simply formed, a high assembly accuracy can be obtained and the number of parts and assembling steps can be reduced in an electric door lock device for a vehicle comprising a striker fixed either a vehicle body or a vehicle door, a base plate having an entry opening for the striker and fixed to the other of the vehicle body or the vehicle door, a hook and ratchet pivotally attached to both the sides of the entry opening for the striker in the base plate to grasp and release the striker and ratchet pressing member driven by a motor to rotate the ratchet in an unlock direction. <P>SOLUTION: A central rotation shaft for supporting the ratchet pressing member so as to freely rotate is formed integrally with a motor housing for housing the motor as the driving source of the ratchet pressing member which is fixed on the base plate.
