<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instantaneous water heater in which expanded water and pressure produced in heating water by the instantaneous water heater have no effect on a main hot water supply heat source machine side, and also to provide a hot water supply system provided with the same. <P>SOLUTION: This instantaneous water heater 5 is provided with a pressure switch 10. The relation of an operating pressure Ps of an overpressure relief valve 9 of the instantaneous water heater 5, an operating pressure Pa of the pressure switch 10, and an operating pressure Pm of a main overpressure relief valve 13 of the main hot water supply heat source machine 1 is set to Ps<Pa< Pm, so that the overpressure relief valve 9 of the instantaneous water heater 5 operates prior to the operation of the main overpressure relief valve 13 of the main hot water supply heat source machine 1 and relieves the pressure and the expanded water.
