<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the workability of jib connection by not only eliminating high altitude work but also facilitating a connecting operation, in connection work of a jib section. <P>SOLUTION: A luffing jib has end portions 55 positioned at one longitudinal end of a jib division 50 forming an intermediate jib section 6 and constituted of a pair of lugs provided on each of a back side and a front side thereof respectively, receiving portions 56 positioned at the other longitudinal end of the jib division 50 and constituted of a tongue capable of fitting in an end portion 55 position at one longitudinal end, and engaging means 9 arranged at the end portions 55 and normally biased toward passage across the lugs. For a newly connected jib section, the back side end portions 55 are connected to the receiving portions 56 of a connection mate on the ground, the newly connected jib section is suspended to allow the receiving portions 56 to fit in the end portions 55 on the front side, and then a remote-drivable drive source 18 is used to provide motion for passage across the lugs of the end portions 55 and integrally connect the end portions 55 and the receiving portions 56. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
