The container-like header and distributor 1 serves for heating and/or cooling systems with at least one heat source having a forward-flow line and a return-flow line and with a plurality of consumer circuits, each having a forward-flow line and a return-flow line. Circulating pumps are arranged in the individual forward-flow and return-flow lines. The forward-flow and return-flow lines of all the circuits are connected to the container-like header and distributor 1. For the connection of these forward-flow and return-flow lines, pipe sockets or connecting orifices are arranged so as to be distributed along the circumference of the container-like header and distributor 1. The interior of the header and distributor 1 is subdivided into interconnected chambers 17, 18 by an intermediate wall 15, 16 delimiting a gap space 14. Pipe sockets or connecting orifices are provided along the circumference of the header and distributor 1 on both sides of these intermediate walls 15, 16.
