POLYCARBONATE POWDER AND POLYCARBONATE POWDER COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder composition suitable for a masterbatch of polycarbonate having good dispersibility and measurability at blending to the polycarbonate produced by the ester interchange process of the invention.

SOLUTION: This polycarbonate powder suitable for producing a master powder satisfies the following conditions: the average particle diameter of 0.10 to 0.60 mm; the particle fraction not passing ASTM #14 sieve of 1 to 10 wt.%, the particle fraction passing ASTM #140 sieve of 4 to 45 wt.% and the particle fraction passing ASTM #200 sieve of 2 to 35 wt.% each based on the whole powder of 100 wt.%; and the voidage (ε) measured in chlorobenzene at 20°C of 0.05 to 5.0 (mL/g). The polycarbonate powder composition comprises the polycarbonate powder and (A) a phosphoric acid derivative and/or (B) a higher fatty carboxylic acid derivative.
