<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display unit which can reduce the degree of influence of a 3-D video on an observer and with which the video is always observed in a suitable state. <P>SOLUTION: In the video display unit to display videos on right-and-left video display elements 26L and 26R in response to right-and-left video signals which are supplied alternately and sequentially by fields and which can display the stereoscopic video, the parallax quantity of the right-and-left video signals supplied to the right-and-left video display elements 26L and 26R is detected to calculate the degree of influence given to the observer. The video display unit has a 3-D protection processing means 14 to judge whether the calculated degree of influence reaches a reference value, and a display control means 17 to selectively display the judgment on the right-and-left video display elements 26L and 26R when the 3-D protection processing means 14 judges that the degree of influence has reached a reference value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
