PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which removes inconvenience or a trouble occurring when a changeover of a display screen to a daytime screen or nighttime screen is performed only by ON/OFF information of a light of a vehicle. SOLUTION: To a computing means 25 composed of a microcomputer or the like which has a program within, not only the ON/OFF information of the light by an illumination information detecting means 26, but also vehicle stop information from a vehicle speed information detecting means 24 which detects the stationary state of the vehicle, are inputted. The computing means 25 prevents optical shock from being given to the retinas of a driver, by changing a display screen in the monitor 30 of the navigation system 10 over to a bright daytime screen, during an interval up to an engine stop after the light of the vehicle is turned off.
