PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary cooling device for a condenser of an air conditioner which avoiding a malfunction to be occurred with quickly over- cooling of the condenser when starting operation of an outdoor equipment, and also to provide an operating method thereof. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner, the operating method of the auxiliary cooling device for cooling by injecting the water to the condenser 35 for condensing the coolant fed from compressors 33 and 34 is provided with an initial mode operation for cooling with the mild water injection containing the idle operation for resting the water injection for the predetermined period after starting the operation of the compressors 33 and 34, and a regular mode operation for cooling with the regular water injection improved in cooling than the mild water injection continuously from the initial mode operation.
