A cutting apparatus (10) for cutting debris (58) from a propeller (18) including a spool means (24) fixed to a propeller shaft (16) so as to rotate with the propeller shaft and a cutter (22) oriented to cut the debris from the spool means. In use, debris snagged by the propeller is wound onto the spool means, whereupon it is cut away by the cutter.
