An extension beam (22b-22d) can be secured to each of the support beams (16a-16d) for the acoustic bars (18a, 18b). The extension beam supports a number of additional acoustic bars and the opposite end to the support beam is secured to the corresponding instrument face (12b). Additional fasteners (30a, 30b) are provided for securing the extension beams to the instrument face. Four support beams for the acoustic bars are releasably secured between the two faces (12a, 12b) of the instrument, a front row (18a) of acoustic bars being supported by the front pair of support beams (16a, 16b) and a back row (18b) of acoustic bars being supported by the back pair of support beams (16c, 16d).
