<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping unit capable of installing on a thin-walled portion of a furniture such as a panel of a drawer, a door, or a plate and the like because of compact dimensions and a shallow installing depth. <P>SOLUTION: The damping unit used for a moving portion of a furniture such as a door, a drawer or the like is provided with a cylinder in which a fluid medium to be compressed by a piston (8) installing a compressed spring (13) is filled. In order to reduce the length of a damping unit (1), the cylinder is formed by a telescope type cylinder capable of expanding and contracting at two stages. The telescoped cylinder is provided with an outer main cylinder (6), a movable cylinder (7), and the piston (8). The compressed spring (13) is arranged between a bottom portion (11) of the outer main cylinder (6) in a final contracted state and the piston (8) in an initial contracted state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
