<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a p-t-amyloxyhalobenzene expected to be useful as a raw material for functional polymers, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, etc., a method for the production of the compound and a method for producing p-t-amyloxystyrene from the halobenzene compound. <P>SOLUTION: p-t-Amyloxystyrene is produced by reacting a p-halophenol with 2-methyl-1-butene and/or 2-methyl-2-butene, preparing a Grignard reagent from the obtained p-t-amyloxyhalobenzene and reacting the reagent with a vinyl halide in the presence of a catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
