PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal member that is for use in a hydraulic operating part of an automotive power steering system and prevents scoring that damages a sliding surface. SOLUTION: In a power cylinder constituting a hydraulic operating part, a piston portion 3 of a rod member 2 slides on an inner circumference of a cylindrical housing 10 filled with working fluid 13 to generate working fluid pressures P<SB>1</SB>and P<SB>2</SB>. The seal member 4 of double-ringed structure mounted on an outer circumference of the piston portion 3 comprises an outer resin seal ring 5 and an inner rubber seal ring 6, and in the resin seal ring 6, a tetrafluoroethylene resin is filled with a glass fiber of a fiber diameter of 5 to 12μm and a fiber length of 10 to 50μm. The aggressiveness of the glass fiber is thus relaxed on the inner circumference of the mating housing 10 in sliding contact to suppress occurrence of damage by scoring to the inner circumference of the housing 10.
