PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorption heat pump using an adsorbent having favorable performance index and short adsorption/desorption cycle time in particular. SOLUTION: This adsorption heat pump uses the adsorbent, or a porous material, composed of inorganic particles having amorphous primary particles and uniform-diameter pores. The mean grain size DL of the particles measured by a dynamic light scattering method is 10-400 nm, and a difference SB-SL between a conversion specific surface SL obtained from DL and a nitrogen adsorption specific surface SB of the particles by a BET method is 250 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more.
